flying coach 01-08-2025

Wendi and I were sitting at L22, the gate for our flight from Chicago to New Orleans. We’d done the kiosk thing and had our luggage and boarding pass squared away. We fly coach so we were group 9 to board, the last! The flight was only about 50% full so we figured we’d have an empty seat between us. Yeah! Being group 9 we were literally the last two to board. We scanned our boarding passes and oops, red flagged. The attendant did his finger clicking on the keyboard and said “oh, you’ve been assigned different seats”. Now what! Our newly printed boarding passes read Row 8, seats A & B. We’d been upgraded to business class, one row behind first class and leg room galore! Why? Didn’t ask. Didn’t argue. Just enjoyed with thanksgiving. Jesus says this in the context of a parable I encourage you to read. (Luke 14:1-14) But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” I offer this: approach 2025 satisfied in your assigned coach seat and celebrate the occasional upgrades God sends your way.
