Last night was the 149th Westminster Dog Show. I watched. My favorite breed is the German Shepherd which won the herding group to be one of the 7 finalists for best in show. She didn’t win. The Giant Schnauzer won. We love our dogs! So what happened between now and Bible times? In the Bible nearly every reference of dogs is used as an insult, or worse 2 Peter 2:22 Of them the proverbs (26:11) are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” Yuk! The Westminster dogs, even with all their spa treatment, are still dogs, which by nature, well Proverbs already said it. Don’t even get me started on what the Bible says about the human nature. Romans 3:10-12 “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who does good, not even one.” You can wash a dog, but only Christ Jesus can cleanse the human nature. And that’s the Gospel! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! PK
